Spain-based GGTech Entertainment announced Tuesday the appointment of Cristina Carranza as the company’s new head of global sales. Carranza spent nearly 10 years at Amazon and later Twitch in the region, working in various roles over the years including an account manager for Amazon Fashion, account manager for Amazon Marketplace, and account director for EU.

In January of 2021, she joined Amazon-owned streaming platform Twitch as an account director, where she spent nearly three years helping build out global gaming programs such as Amazon GAMERGY and Amazon University Esports.

In her new role, Carranza will help GGTech expand into new markets, with a focus on the United States. She’ll join the international team led by Eduardo García, who recently joined the company as its chief product officer.

GGTech is bolstering its international team after securing a major deal with Riot Games earlier this year for North America. In July, Riot Games confirmed The Esports Advocate’s previous reporting that the Spain-based company would be its collegiate esports partner over the next three years, serving as “a one-stop-shop” for College League of Legends, College Valorant, the college club program, and other programs such as the CLoL Fall Warmup tournament.

Prior to that announcement, GGTech secured a $12.4M USD investment from Mexico City, Mexico-based growth equity investment firm Glisco Partners, and investment firm Heart Beat. While the investment is meant to strengthen its existing operations, the focus of the funds is to support the company’s plans to expand into the United States.
