Nerd Street Gamers revealed Monday in a company blog post that it is “moving forward with its plans” to build out a second collegiate esports facility at private liberal arts college in Albright College—this time in partnership with the collegiate esports division of Playfly Sports, Playfly Esports. Albright College is a private liberal arts college located in Reading, Pennsylvania.
Costs related to this new venue was not disclosed, but Nerd Street said that it plans to open sometime in 2024.
Nerd Street said that the area dedicated to esports will offer 6,800 square feet dedicated to collegiate and local esports activities and will feature 60 gaming stations, a 5 vs. 5 stage for competitions, a café, team room and offices. The location will be branded as a Nerd Street Localhost, which means that it will be open to the public when the college isn’t using the space (we assume).
When complete, the Nerd Street venue will be located at the corner of 13th Street and Richmond Street, in the College Heights neighborhood. MPG Impact Development, which is already partnered with Albright College, will design and develop the property.
It is unclear if the college is using part of the $500K USD grant that it received last summer dedicated to building out esports initiatives.
Nerd Street opened its first collegiate esports-focused Localhost at Rowan University in Glassboro, New Jersey, at the end of April.
