Minnesota-based esports organization Torrent announced Wednesday that it has released its rosters and is shutting down, effective immediately. The organization made the announcement via social media, which appears to indicate that a lot of the actual staff will shift over to its parent company Wisdom Gaming Studios.

Effective today, Torrent will be ceasing its operations. As many of you know, Torrent has been pretty quiet after exiting ALGS and RLCS in Fall of 2022. Towards the end of the last year we alluded to returning to some capacity and fully intended on creating something we thought the community would enjoy. Ultimately the final decision was made to take the passion and creativity of our team and infuse that into other endeavors under our parent company, esports production firm Wisdom Gaming Studios.

We know this isn’t the news anyone wanted to hear, From our start at Alpine through to Torrent, we always wanted to build a community of passionate fans and you all made that possible. Truly it never felt like a day of work here.

Thank you, we appreciate you and goodbye.

As noted in its statement, the organization competed in the Rocket League Championship Series and Apex Legends Global Series in 2022, in addition to employing a number of casters and content creators.

Editor’s note: We erroneously referred to Wisdom Gaming Studios as Wizard Gaming Studios. We apologize for the error.
