Galaxy Racer Dubai headquarters closed in March according to sources

Galaxy Racer's Dubai headquarters closed in March, according to sources speaking to the Esports Advocate.

The Esports Advocate has learned that Dubai-based esports and gaming company Galaxy Racer closed its headquarters in the United Arab Emirates in March. As its Dubai office was its headquarters, it is unclear if the company is still officially operational, as of this writing.

On a related note, Galaxy Racer still owes the winners of $100K HER Galaxy Apex Legends Open, which concluded on June 25, 2023, as well as Chicago-based tournament platform company LeagueSpot (which it owes around $40K USD for its services related to the competition, according to sources).

Sources also claim that founder and CEO Paul Roy is no longer in the United Arab Emirates, and may have had a travel restriction in place prior to leaving the country. Generally, the UAE government might put travel restrictions on individuals who are entangled in ongoing legal matters, have immigration issues, or are facing pending criminal charges. TEA could not confirm Roy’s travel status with the UAE government, as of this writing. TEA reached out to Roy prior to the publication of this story, but he did not respond to a request for comment.

Roy’s current whereabouts are unknown but one source told us last month that he is likely “somewhere in India,” as he would feel “safe there.”

On a related note, long-time Galaxy Racer Chief of Staff Walid Singer has left the company and has started a new role as chief marketing officer at Dubai-based educational company Kids First Group. TEA reached out to Singer prior to the publication of this story, but he did not respond, as of this writing.

It is also unclear if the merger between Galaxy Racer and Riva Technology and Entertainment is still in the works—TEA reached out to RTE Non-Executive Chairman of the Board Antoine Massad in public (as he has ignored multiple communications in private over the last year) for comment, but he did not respond to our request, as of this writing. The merger has been in the works for quite a while and there hasn’t been an update on its progress since July 2023. Roy is currently listed as the CEO and executive director of that company, as of this writing.

We will continue to follow this story as it develops…
