North American esports organization NRG Esports announced that, in cooperation with partner Samsung Galaxy, it has launched its first PUBG Mobile roster under the name “NRG Galaxy.” The newly formed NRG Galaxy squad is composed of players David “Spec” Guzman, Jonathan “J7” Galaviz, and Cristian “Fate” Figueroa, with Tyler “Telli” Ellison supporting the team as coach.
As part of NRG’s existing partnership with Samsung Galaxy, the NRG Galaxy team will be provided with Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra smartphones to use during training sessions and in competitive play. Naturally, Samsung branding will appear on NRG Galaxy player jerseys, across social media, and in content created around the team.
While the entry into PUBG Mobile is serving as an enhancement to NRG’s existing partnership with Samsung Galaxy, it is also likely a move as part of the organization being in the Esports World Cup Club Support Program, which financially incentivizes teams to invest in different esports. NRG is one of 30 teams that was accepted into the program recently. The incentive program is part of Saudi Arabia’s push to put esports on the map in the country and to spotlight its upcoming Esports World Cup competition this summer in Riyadh.
Samsung Galaxy is one of a number of active sponsors and partners that work with NRG Esports. Other partners include the U.S. Army National Guard, AMD, DXRACER, Bud Light, Rockstar Energy Drink, Republic of Gamers (ROG), Carvana, Spectrum, YoungLA, Hot Pockets, and Panda Express.
