Thunderpick named official betting sponsor of Heroic Counter-strike 2, Dota 2 and sim racing teams

Online crypto and esports betting platform Thunderpick announced Friday that it will serve as an official sponsor of Copenhagen-based esports organization Heroic.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, but the company describes the duration of this partnership as “multi-year.”

Under the terms of this new partnership, Thunderpick will serve as the exclusive global betting sponsor for Heroic’s Counter-Strike 2, Dota 2, and sim racing teams.

The first fruits of this partnership will be on display this weekend; with Thunderpick supporting Heroic at the CS2 PGL Major, followed by the DOTA2 ESL One Birmingham in April. Heroic will also be competing in the previously announced Thunderpick World Championship 2024, with a $1M USD prize pool.

Thunderpick said in a release that this new collaboration with Heroic is “more than a sponsorship,” describing it instead as a “fusion of passion, innovation, and the relentless pursuit of enhancing the esports landscape.” The partnership will include activities, exclusive content, branded merchandise, and unique opportunities for fans to connect with the team.

Thunderpick has partnered with esports organizations in the past such as the*gamehers, Evil Geniuses, and content creators such as Jake Lucky, N0thing, CooperTV, Freakazoid, Emzii, and FlickFlops.

Thunderpick is a gaming-focused crypto gambling and casino platform operated by Paloma Media B.V., and licensed and regulated through a Curaçao gambling license. It currently offers gambling products related to Counter-Strike 2, Dota 2, League of Legends, Valorant, Call of Duty, Rainbow Six Siege, StarCraft II, Wild Rift, Age of Empires, and Warcraft, among others.

While Thunderpick advertises in Western markets, it does not currently hold licenses for gambling in the United States (through various states where gambling and esports wagering are supported legally), Canada, and the UK.  In the legal disclaimer section of its website, the company puts the onus of compliance to local laws related to gambling on the user.
