$1M USD Thunderpick World Championship for Counter-Strike 2 announced.

Online crypto betting platform Thunderpick announced Monday that it will launch the Thunderpick World Championship 2024, a global Counter-Strike 2 tournament with a $1M USD prize pool, on April 1. The tournament is a follow-up to the Thunderpick World Championship 2023, which saw FaZe Clan win in the grand finals. The competition will kick off on April 1,  with the world finals taking place in late-October.

The competition will feature six qualifier rounds across Europe, North America, and South America. Additional details about scheduling and other information will be released at a later date on its official website..

Thunderpick also noted in its announcement that it has renewed its partnership with GRID as the official esports services provider and data partner. Financial terms of that deal were not disclosed.

Thunderpick is a competitive gaming-focused crypto gambling and casino platform operated by Paloma Media B.V., and licensed and regulated through a Curaçao gambling license. It currently offers gambling products related to Counter-Strike 2, Dota 2, League of Legends, Valorant, Call of Duty, Rainbow Six Siege, StarCraft II, Wild Rift, Age of Empires, and Warcraft, among others.

While the company may advertise in Western markets, it does not hold licenses for gambling in the United States (in states where gambling and esports wagering are supported legally), Canada, and the UK.

It should also be noted that to use its services, you are required to purchase supported crypto within the platform after sign-up. In the legal disclaimer section of the website, the company puts the onus of compliance to local laws related to gambling on the user.
