Electronic Arts announced Monday that the Madden NFL 24 Championship Series (MCS 24) will return on Oct. 18 with the “Most Feared Challenge” broadcast, as part of its new effort to provide a monthly tournament fixture this season. EA says that this will build momentum for the MCS 24 season by providing more opportunities for players and fans to “compete, watch, and win.”
EA also said in a release that more than 48K MCS games have been played and that MCS 24 registrations are up 10% compared to the entire MCS 23 season. EA also claims that its Ultimate Kickoff event has set the record as the most-watched Madden esports competition, with an increase in average minute audience (AMA) of 62% year-over-year. Specific numbers on viewership were not provided.
The top four players—Wesley, JonBeast, Abram, and TJ—have already made it through the online ladders and the elimination phase, and will advance to an in-person final to be broadcast live from EA’s broadcast center in Redwood City on Oct. 18. The Most Feared Challenge features a $125K USD prize pool and gives participants qualification points toward the Ultimate Madden Bowl in 2024.
