ESL FACEIT Group brand DreamHack announced Wednesday that it has appointed Guy Blomberg as its new event director DreamHack Festivals – Americas.

In his new role, Blomberg will oversee DreamHack events in the region for 2024—including festivals in Dallas and Atlanta.

Blomberg is a 20+ year veteran in the gaming and entertainment events space; he spent more than eight years at international gaming events company Reedpop, where he helped build out some of the biggest festivals and conventions in the world including E3, PAX, Comic-Con, EGX, and more.

He is also a board director of the International Game Developers Association (IGDA) and the founder of the Games Industry Gathering (GIG) networking group.

Blomberg will help to bring  multiple DreamHack events to fruition in 2024, including DreamHack Dallas (May 31-June 2) and DreamHack Atlanta (Oct. 4-6), two of the most popular U.S. locations. While the festival will not be returning to San Diego in 2024 “due to scheduling challenges,” the company said it is continuing to look at other “opportunities in California moving forward.”

Blomberg is already working on DreamHack Atlanta 2023, which is taking place on Dec. 15-17. at the Georgia World Congress Center.
