Austin, Texas-based indie video game publishing company Mad Mushroom announced the appointment of video games industry veteran Mike Silbowitz as its new chief executive officer. Silbowitz had been serving as advisor to the company since January. Mad Mushroom was founded by media collective One True King (OTK) and its members which includes content creators Asmongold, Emiru, Esfand, Extra Emily, and Sodapoppin.

Silbowitz is a veteran of the video games industry, having spent nearly two decades working in leading business development, marketing, and publishing roles at such companies as Activision Blizzard, Krafton, Wargaming, NCSoft, and Square Enix America.

Mad Mushroom’s mission statement is to “transform the indie gaming industry by harnessing the power of gaming influencers and media platforms to provide indie game developers with unparalleled game visibility, marketing, and distribution.”

Like many other content creators, Mad Mushroom is a play by OTK to enter the potentially lucrative world of game publishing. Other content creators and esports organizations such as Dr Disrespect (Midnight Society), Nadeshot (and 100 Thieves), Ninja and TimTheTatman (Complexity/GameSquare), and Misfits are all trying their hand at either creating full-fledged game properties or content for games such as Fortnite and Roblox.
