South Korean game publisher Krafton announced Thursday that it plans to invest $150M USD in the Indian gaming industry over the next two to three years. Krafton is best known for being the developer and publisher of such popular gaming and esports titles PUBG, PUBG Mobile, and Battlegrounds Mobile India.

This new financial commitment to the region is on top of the $140M Krafton has already invested in companies in India such as NODWIN Gaming, Nautilus Mobile, and Loco, among others

In a release Krafton said that one-third of this money will be invested into existing companies in the Indian gaming space, with the remaining $50M towards new startups. In terms of what sectors will benefit from this investment, Krafton will focus on gaming, esports, multimedia entertainment, content creation, and more.

“Our strategic investments are carefully chosen to align with our expertise and experience, empowering innovative ideas and startups to thrive. Since 2021, we have invested over $140 million in various startups and are thrilled by the progress our portfolio companies have made, said Krafton Corporate Development & Venture Investing Lead – India & MENA Nihansh Bhat. “Our investment momentum will continue as we seek to establish a dynamic and evolving portfolio across various segments in India.”

Krafton India CEO Sean Hyunil Sohn added: “We firmly believe in India’s potential as a key player in the global gaming and technology industry, and our commitment to invest an additional $150 million over the next two to three years reflects our dedication to fueling this growth.”
