Game development engine software maker Unity Software will lay off an additional 600 employees, or 8% of its workforce, according to a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on Tuesday. This fresh round of layoffs follows cuts in January that saw the company would let around 300 employees go.

The company said in its filing that it made these cuts in an effort to restructure “specific teams in order to continue to position itself for long-term and profitable growth.” As a result, the company expects to incur $26M USD in charges (“employee transition, severance payments, and employee benefits,” according to the filing) related to the restructure, which will have a material impact in the second quarter of 2023.

Unity engine technology powers a number of high-profile games including Call of Duty: Mobile, Pokémon Unite, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, Arena of Valor, and many other titles from around the world.
