Epic Games announced Monday that Australian rapper The Kid LAROI will bring new tracks into the world of Fortnite and be the star of a series of in-game activities and events, starting with the launch of The Kid LAROI’s Wild Dreams island.
The series of events and activations related to what Epic is calling a “interactive musical experience” has been dubbed the “THE KID LAROI’s WILD DREAMS,” and will feature the aforementioned special island (developed with the help of Fortnite creators Alliance Studios, Team Atomic, and TheBoyDilly), the debut of three unreleased songs on the island (and after-party island), a special tournament, the release of unique outfits in the item shop, and more.
Coincidently perhaps, The Kid Laroi will release his first studio album, “The First Time” on Friday (Jan. 27), and last week he released a teaser from his LP with the new single “I Can’t Go Back to the Way It Was (Intro).” The last The Kid Laroi track released in April of 2022—“Thousand Miles”—ranked No. 15 on the Billboard Hot 100 and his track with Justin Bieber—“Stay”—hit No. in August of 2021, according to Billboard. The Kid Laroi x Justin Bieber single was also certified platinum this month (selling 9M units), according to the RIAA.
Here are all the planned activities:
- Item Shop Items: The Kid LAROI and The Rogue LAROI Outfits.
- Music: “Love Again” (being released Jan. 27) and three unreleased songs will be in the Wild Dreams Afterparty islands (island code 4294-0410-6136).
- Quest: The Kid LAROI’s Wild Dreams Quests will offer XP and special LAROI items, including “Love Again” and “Thousand Miles” lobby tracks, the LAROI & The Rogue Loading Screen, and the LAROI Was Here and LAROI’s Tag sprays.
- THE KID LAROI ICON Series & Cup: Players can compete in The Kid LAROI Cup on Tuesday (Jan. 24) to unlock the Outfits early and earn a special banner icon and emoticon.
The island experience will be available in-game (PlayStation, Xbox, Switch, Android, PC) for a limited time: Jan. 27 at 6 PM ET to 6 PM ET on April 27.
Finally, Epic noted in its announcement that content creators in the Support-A-Creator (SAC) program can host VOD content from The Kid LAROI’s Wild Dreams and The Kid LAROI’s Wild Dreams Afterparty on YouTube and monetize it for seven days (Jan. 27 at 6 PM ET to Feb. 3 at 5:59 PM ET), and no takedown notifications should occur during this time. Twitch streamers can do the same, but Epic said it can’t guarantee that a takedown notification won’t occur.
More details on all these activities can be found on the official Fornite blog.
