At least three employees were laid off at Frisco, Texas-based esports organization Optic Gaming on Thursday. We can not confirm—as of this writing—if any other staff members have been affected.
Optic Brand Manager Lindsay Caudill, a person in creative, and Ian Huston, who worked in team operations, announced on social media Thursday that they are no longer with the company.
TEA has reached out to multiple employees at OpTic for either comment or confirmation, but none have responded as of this writing.
OpTic joins a growing list of gaming companies and esports organizations that have laid staff in the month of January including Riot Games, Microsoft (and all of its game development studios including 343 Industries), Nerd Street Gamers,Team Liquid, 100 Thieves, eUnited, TSM, game engine developer Unity, Washington Post’s Launcher, GameSpot, GiantBomb, IGN, EGMNow, and many many other companies.
