The League of Legends EMEA Championship (LEC) revealed during the start of the 2023 season on Saturday that the LEC season finals will be held in Montpellier, the southernmost region of France. The finals will be held at the Arena Montpellier, which can seat between 10,000 – 14,000 spectators, depending on the configuration of a given event.
Details such as dates, seating capacity, and ticket sales will be announced at a date to be determined. This year’s format won’t have stops for each season final, instead leading to a single final that will feed into the World Championship. Last year’s Summer Split Finals were hosted in Malmö, Sweden.
There’s no doubt that the Montpellier government was happy to be selected as the location for this year’s final competition before Worlds 2023–Riot Games claimed that the multi-day finals in Malmö in 2022 generated roughly $4.7M USD (50M SEK) in revenue for the local economy (note: the exchange rate for SEK to USD on Sept. 10-11, 2022, was 1 SEK =  $0.094081 USD, according to ChangeRates.org).
On a related note, LEC sponsors and partners were revealed during the start of the 2023 season on Saturday. Partners for 2023 include Nestlé’s KitKat, Red Bull, Secretlab, and Santander. Displate, Kia, and LG’s Ultragear monitor brand were previously announced. All of this year’s partners were on display during the broadcast and in-game in The Rift.
