Women-focused tournament operator Raidiant, content creator ThePeachCobbler, and WOTE (Women of the eRena) have partnered with Gonna Need Milk to create The Milk Cup, a Fortnite tournament series for women offering a total prize pool of $250K USD.
Financial terms of this new partnership were not disclosed.
The event’s title sponsor is “Gonna Need Milk,” a national advertising and marketing campaign to promote the popular dairy product in the United States facilitated by MilkPEP, the “Milk Processor Education Program.” MilkPEP is funded by America’s milk companies and is “dedicated to educating consumers and increasing the consumption of fluid milk.”
“Our commitment goes beyond words; we actively listen to the gaming community and value their ideas and feedback,” said MilkPEP CEO Yin Woon Rani, in a release. “Gonna Need Milk has a long legacy of supporting and fueling women athletes. We hope to inspire and motivate young girls and women globally and create a gaming industry that supports and rewards talent.”
Produced by Raidiant in partnership with WOTE (one of the largest and longest-running women-only tournaments in gaming), the tournament circuit will feature three majors, leading to an in-person grand finals LAN event with a payout of $250K. Majors and the grand final of this trios-focused competition will be broadcast on Twitch.
According to a release, ThePeachCobbler worked closely with Gonna Need Milk to “conceptualize The Milk Cup” and will serve as an advisor on the structure and key points of the tournament.
More details on the competition can be found here.
Raidiant is a division of New Meta Entertainment—the same company that owns esports organization Dignitas.
