Publicly traded, North American esports and gaming company OverActive Media announced Tuesday the appointment of Neil Duffy as its new chief commercial officer for the Americas.
Duffy joins OAM from Ohio-based eFuse, where he spent more than three years as chief revenue officer, leading the company’s strategic partnerships and corporate development, with a focus on publishers, advertisers, agencies, and brands.
On a related note, Duffy announced via social media Monday that he would be leaving eFuse and taking on a strategic advisor role aimed at helping CEO Matthew Benson and the company’s board of directors.
Prior to joining eFuse, Duffy worked in various executive roles at CSL Esports, Tiidal Gaming, and WorldGaming (all of these companies were later acquired by other entities).
In this new role at OAM, Duffy will be in charge of “developing and executing the company’s revenue and marketing strategies, capitalizing on his extensive esports industry experience to drive growth and enhance OverActive Media’s footprint” in key markets including the United States, Canada, and Latin America.
Duffy joins a number of other recent executive exits from eFuse including Halina Malik, who left her role as head of marketing in February to join Epic Games as its senior esports operations manager; and more recently, Herbie May, who left his role as director of partnerships at the company in March to join Almost Friday Media as its director of partnership sales.
OAM operates a number of team franchises in professional esports leagues, including the Call of Duty League (Toronto Ultra), MAD Lions KOI (LEC), and Movistar KOI (VCT). The company also fields a team in the Overwatch Champions Series (Toronto Defiant) and other non-franchised leagues and competitions. Overwatch Esports (formerly OWL) was taken over by ESL FACEIT Group at the beginning of this year and turned into an open-format league.
