Level Infinite, a division of Chinese conglomerate Tencent Holdings, announced Tuesday that the popular mobile MOBA game Honor of Kings will host a major international event in Istanbul, Turkey, beginning on March 2.
The Honor of Kings Invitational S1 tournament will feature Turkey’s own FUT KAOS, Besiktas Esports, and IW WRX, competing against Brazil’s Vivo Keyd Stars and Alpha 7 Esports. UAE-based Stalwart Esports, Kazakhstan team Major Pride, and Saudi Arabian team Twisted Minds are also set to compete. Teams will compete from March 2 – 10, to take home a portion of the overall prize pool of $300K USD and to secure a spot in the Honor of Kings Invitational Season 2.
The Honor of Kings Invitational S1 is the first event in the new Honor of Kings Global Invitational Series, the game’s new esports circuit announced in January. It was announced alongside news that Honor of Kings has pledged $15M USD to grow the game’s international esports ecosystem in 2024.Â
The Invitational S1 full schedule is as follows:
- March 2-5: Group Stage
- March 7-8: Quarterfinals
- March 9: Semi-Finals
- March 10: Finals
Tuesday’s announcement follows news that Honor of Kings will be part of the Esports World Cup this summer, and that the game has been launched on Android and iOS devices in the Middle East, North Africa, Turkiye, Eastern Europe, and South Asia. Level Infinite claims that the launch in those new regions saw more than 1M players participate in a pre-registration program.
Fans interested in watching the Invitational S1 can do so through the game’s official Twitch, Facebook, and YouTube channels, or via its official website.
