Berlin-based esports and gaming company Freaks 4U Gaming, announced Monday that Germany-based health insurance company Die Techniker Krankenkasse (TK) has signed on as the title partner for the official League of Legends league in the DACH region, League of Legends Prime League for 2024.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. The partnership was brokered by international sports marketing agency SPORTFIVE.
Under the terms of this new deal, the league will be renamed to Die Techniker Prime League. As title partner, TK will work with Freaks 4U on initiatives and campaigns to promote the treatment of mental health problems and champion healthy behaviors. Working with Prime League, TK also hopes to help shape the “most positive and healthiest esports environment in the DACH region and beyond.”
TK has been part of the esports and gaming scene in the DACH region since 2019, and began its relationship with Prime League during the end of Summer Split 2023, covering the final match days of the regular season, playoffs, and off-season.
Ranked #1 in health insurance funds in Germany for the last 17 years by German magazine Focus Money and boasting 11M members, TK offers healthcare solutions and services to its members, and advocacy for mental and physical health. The company is keen to bring that advocacy to the esports and gaming community in the region through this partnership with Prime League, according to a release.
The Die Techniker Prime League Spring Split 2024 begins on Jan. 17, with 10 teams competing to qualify for their spots in the EMEA Masters 2024 Spring. The group stage for the split is scheduled from Jan. 17 – March 13, followed by playoffs from March 20 to April 13.
