The Esports Awards announced Tuesday that international esports organization Gen.G Esports has partnered with the collegiate gaming industry awards, The Scholars.
Financial terms of the partnership were not disclosed.Â
Gen.G will serve as a presenting partner for the Global Impact Award at the inaugural awards for collegiate esports, taking place Nov. 27-28 at Worlds Resort Las Vegas—prior to this year’s Esports Awards. The organization’s branding will also appear at the venue for the event and will be featured in social media posts and other marketing materials. In addition, company representatives will take part in panels discussing esports as a valuable resource for promoting education.
Gen.G is no stranger to the collegiate, scholastic, and academic esports spaces in North America and South Korea; in March it partnered with the Black Collegiate Gaming Association (BCGA) and franchised fast food restaurant chain McDonald’s for the HBCU+ College netWORK Summit. It also announced with the University of Kentucky and the Gen.G Foundation a 10-year, $1M USD commitment to help foster the development of future gaming and esports industry leaders through partnerships with universities in the United States that was announced in 2020. In June it partnered with the Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD), the Sacramento Chinese Community Service Center, and Elk Grove Unified School District in Sacramento to extend and expand its eight week after-school program for K-12 students called the Generational Gaming Academy.Â
The Esports Awards announced The Scholars earlier this year. In addition to the awards ceremony, The Scholars will also serve as the host of PWR UP Las Vegas: Collegiate Gaming Conference, presented by GamerTech, on Nov. 28.Â
