Louisville, Kentucky-based Bellarmine University announced a partnership this week with Louisville-based broadband provider Accelecom to help grow its infrastructure—and in turn—aid enhance the performance of its esports program.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
In a release, the university said that Accelecom will bring its 10Gbps connectivity between Bellarmine’s campus and the Flexential data center in Louisville as part of an infrastructure expansion plan. This move will help improve connectivity to the university’s esports center and support its new minor in esports, according to a release.
This move follows Bellarmine hosting Kentucky’s first esports competition in March, with participation from over 170 students from 15 Kentucky area high schools.
During its Spring 2023 semester, Bellarmine University recorded 2,815 full- and part-time students (including graduate and undergraduate students).
