ESL FACEIT Group (EFG) and the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) announced Wednesday that Season 2 of eFIBA, the international NBA 2K24 competition, will launch on Oct. 3. According to a release, more than 30 countries across four continents will participate this year. Competitions will take place on PlayStation 5, and feature a 5v5 format on the ProAM game mode on NBA 2K24.
The six-week competition will feature national teams from all over the world (four FIBA Regions – Africa, Americas, Asia—including Oceania—and Europe) competing in Regional Qualifiers and Regional Finals, for a spot in an in-person LAN event called the eFIBA Season 2 World Finals.
Additional details on eFIBA Season 2 and the FIBA World Finals 2023 will be revealed at a later date.
Earlier this year FIBA, 2K Games, and the NBA 2K League entered into an agreement that will help improve organizing international events for National Federations and the esports and gaming communities. The multi-year deal aims to “identify regional talents,” by offering eFIBA participants a chance to compete in NBA 2K League events or the NBA 2K League Draft, and establishes a national team competition system.
