South Korea-based digital collectibles company Legendaries announced the beta launch of LCK Legendaries, a new collectible trading card service that highlights the top players in Riot Games’ League of Legends Champions Korea (LCK). The service allows fans to “purchase, collect, trade, and interact through Discord using digital cards” that feature famous LCK players such as ‘Faker’ Lee Sang-hyeok and ‘Chovy’ Jeong Ji-hoon.

The company said in a release that “limited issue” packs will be available on the official LCK Legendaries website via seven drops scheduled during the LCK regular season and playoffs. The digital cards will be sold in packs with each pack containing two to five cards at random. LCK Legendaries users can purchase packs of four tiers, priced from $9 – $60 USD.  Beginning Wednesday (June 7), starter packs will be available for $9, with 2023 LCK Spring regular season Standard, Elite, and Premium packs will be sold starting June 12.

More details on release timing, special events, and more can be found at lck.legendaries.com.

According to Legendaries CEO Seung-ik Bae, 50% of the revenue from the LCK digital collectibles will be distributed among teams.

Companies in other regions are creating similar collectible cards for esports leagues; most notably Kolex which has created a series of digital cards for a number of high-profile esports teams, the Counter-Strike: Global Offensive esports scene and select content creators. Kolex differs from other companies in that it offers a physical card that is tied to a digital counterpart. Trading card company UpperDeck also produces trading cards for the Overwatch League and Call of Duty League through UpperDeck Esports.
