South Korean esports organization T1 Entertainment & Sports will open a new facility in Seoul’s Hongdae district called the “T1 Base Camp,” according to a report in The Korea Herald published Friday. According to that report, the new facility will feature a T1 merchandise store, an “esports stage,” and multiple LED screens to display live T1 League of Legends matches for fans visiting the location. The T1 Base Camp will officially open on May 13.
Further details, such as how much it costs to design and build the facility, square footage, and other planned amenities, were not available at the time of writing.
It should be noted that when T1 announced its four-year partnership with global sports apparel company Nike in January of 2020, there was talk of the companies working together to open a new training facility at the organization’s headquarters in Seoul, South Korea, but that never seemed to come to fruition. In January, that deal was altered when the organization signed an additional three-year deal with sports lifestyle fashion brand Goal Studio—Nike remains T1’s official footwear and fitness partner.
