Update: ASTRO Gaming will continue as a brand under the Logitech portfolio, according to Logitech. A spokesperson from Logitech tells The Esports Advocate that  “ASTRO is not dead. ASTRO products remain an important part of the Logitech G portfolio,” adding in a subsequent comment that “ASTRO has been and will continue to be a brand under Logitech G.”

They also told TEA that “at Logitech G we still have both our affiliate programs and esports sponsorship in place,” but noted that “Regrettably, a number of employee roles were affected in a recent adjustment of our organization.”

When asked for specifics the spokesperson said that Logitech does not comment “on any internal reorganization,” or “on specifics on brand or geography.”

Several sources familiar with the situation told TEA that a majority of the staff at ASTRO were cut in the third quarter of 2022.

Original Story: Logitech appears to have shut down its ASTRO Gaming brand, according to several social media posts from former employees. It is unclear if the company is simply bringing the brand in-house to be operated by the main company or if it has completely discontinued the brand going forward, as of this writing.

The Esports Advocate has reached out to Logitech’s North American operations for more details and will update this story as more information becomes available.

On Monday, ASTRO gaming Esports Manager Edwin Nolasco announced in a video posted on social media that he had been laid off. He did not elaborate further about the fate of the brand, but did note: “Also for people wondering this was part of the Logitech layoffs due to ‘restructuring’ so the future of ASTRO esports is, let’s just say there is none xD.” Nolasco spent more than five years at the company in multiple roles related to supporting esports and content creators.

Other social media posts have suggested that the brand is completely dead, but TEA could not independently verify this.

ASTRO Gaming is a longtime endemic brand that sponsored esports teams, leagues, and content creators on Twitch and YouTube over the years. ASTRO Gaming makes a variety of gear for PC and consoles including gaming gear (backpacks and other complimentary accessories), controllers, headsets, amps, and more.

Logitech acquired the Switzerland-based gaming peripherals maker in the summer of 2017 for approximately $85M USD in cash.
