European Esports Federation Elects New President, Board Members

The European Esports Federation (EEF) recently concluded its annual General Assembly in Warsaw, Poland, and elected a new president, board members, and audit committee members.

The general assembly was held at the presidential palace of Poland President Andrzej Duda (a vocal supporter of esports within the country), which was not coincidental, as Andrzej Kraśnicki, former president of the Polish Olympic Committee, was named president of the EEF.

Prior to the meeting, representatives from the Global Esports Federation (GEF), the International Esports Federation (IESF), and EEF attended a reception with President Duda, “where they engaged in discussions regarding the strategic development of Esports in Poland,” according to an IESF release.

New EEF board members elected during the general assembly included Mia Kraljević–Ćalasan (Montenegro), Boban Totovski (representing North Macedonia and also the current general secretary of the IESF), Elin Yoojung Moen (Norway), Chester King (president of the British Esports Federation), Karol Cagan (Slovakia), Sami Kaidi (Sweden), and Alper Afsin Özdemir (Turkey).

Three new audit committee members were elected as well: Balázs György Biró (Hungary), Arantza López (Spain), and Chris Jonasson (Sweden).

But the most important news to come out of the EEF’s general meeting is an acknowledgment by both the GEF and the IESF that the EEF is the federation of note representing Europe. The move is a nod to the memorandum of understanding (MOU) signed between IESF and GEF in December, and represents “a pivotal step toward fostering collaboration and unity within the global esports community,” according to a release.
