Longtime TSM Chief Operating Officer Walter Wang announced Friday that he is leaving the company after more than six years of serving in various roles (thanks to Kevin Hitt for visibility on this news via social media).

Wang joined TSM as an advisor in 2017, but was promoted to multiple senior and executive positions over the years including senior director of operations, vice president of operations, and—in November of 2021—chief operating officer.

It is unclear, as of this writing, who will fill Wang’s role.

In a statement published on social media, Wang indicated that his exit is amicable and that he will be pursuing new opportunities elsewhere. You can read his entire statement below:

Today marks the end of a chapter, but it’s also the start of a new one. It’s a mix of emotions but today I bid farewell to TSM after an unforgettable 6-year journey. While I am sad to leave, I am excited for the new opportunities that await me. This may come as a shock to many but I made the decision to leave a couple of weeks ago and I have been working with the rest of the TSM leadership team to ensure a seamless transition.

My time at TSM has been a rollercoaster ride of ups and downs, but it has taught me invaluable lessons about resilience, perseverance, and teamwork. I am incredibly grateful for the unwavering commitment of our team in rising up to every challenge that came our way. Despite the obstacles, we achieved some remarkable milestones including partnering with some amazing brands, dominating the Apex scene, becoming NA Dota Champions, winning countless Smash Majors, launching our first anime collab (MHA), bringing home TSM’s first World Championship in R6, and so many more.

I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to all the players and creators who have represented TSM around the world. Your competitive drive inspired me every single day.

To my colleagues, thank you for your support and guidance throughout the years. It has been a privilege to work alongside such talented and passionate individuals.

Finally, I want to thank the TSM fans who have cheered us on at every turn. Your unwavering support and passion have been a driving force behind our success, and I will always cherish the memories of the TSM chants that filled stadiums across the world. GG WP.
