More Staff Cuts at Generation Esports

The Esports Advocate has learned that at least two more people have been laid off from collegiate and scholastic esports company Generation Esports. It is unclear as of this writing if more than these two people have been affected, but TEA has reached out to the company for further information and will update this story should it respond.

The latest spate of layoffs follows a round that occurred in early-December that saw around six employees let go. That followed a more drastic round of layoffs in September of 2022 when the company cut approximately 15-20 employees.

Those affected this week include Shannon Le and Nevin Horne. Le joined the company in February 2021 as a customer service associate, but quickly climbed the ranks over her more than three years at the company serving in multiple roles such as customer service lead, associate account manager, account manager, and finally league operations manager.

Horne joined Generation Esports in November of 2021 to take on the role of project coordinator of scholastic competition. In June of 2022 he was promoted to project manager for tournament operations. Horne was with the company for nearly a year and a half before being let go this week.

Generation Esports is a tournament platform and organizer that focuses on scholastic and collegiate esports competitions as well as events for active duty military personnel through its various operations including the High School Esports League, Middle School Esports League, and the Military Gaming League.
