Tournament organizer PGL announced Tuesday that it will facilitate the very first Counter-Strike 2 major of 2024. From March 17 – 31, 2024, the PGL CS2 Major Copenhagen 2024 will invade the Royal Arena in Copenhagen, Denmark.
The PGL CS2 Major will feature the top 24 CS2 teams competing for a part of a $1.25M USD total prize pool and will also serve as the very first Counter-Strike Major to take place in Denmark. Further details about the Major are to be announced at a later date, given that it is more a year away.
PGL is no stranger to hosting Counter-Strike esports events; it hosted the PGL Major Stockholm in 2021, and most recently, PGL CS:GO Major Antwerp 2022.Â
Following the announcement that Counter-Strike 2 actually existed and would be released as a free update to Counter-Strike: Global Offensive later this year, Valve announced that it would cancel the second Major of 2023 (set for November) and that the upcoming BLAST Paris Major (May 8 – 21) would be the last for the 2023 season.Â
Counter-Strike 2 will be released this summer for free.
