DreamHack San Diego Highlights Esports Schedule

ESL FACEIT Group (EFG) brand DreamHack announced Wednesday that DreamHack San Diego, its planned events and competitions. DreamHack San Diego is scheduled to take place April 7-9, at the San Diego Convention Center and marks the first team the gaming festival series has been held in the city. The marquee sponsors for the event include Intel and Monster.

The competitions include the Rocket League Championship Series Winter Major, a Fortnite competition, the United States Magic: The Gathering Regional Championship, and Brawl Stars and Clash of Clans competitions that are part of the Snapdragon Pro Series powered by Samsung Galaxy.

The RLCS Winter Major will feature a $310K USD total prize pool and will see the 16 top-ranked North American teams compete.

Top North American Brawl Stars and Clash of Clans teams will compete in what is being called the “largest-ever” Snapdragon Pro Series powered by Samsung Galaxy The total prize pool for these competitions in $100K. Samsung will also have a Snapdragon Pro Series booth onsite.

A “drop-in,” Zero Build Fortnite tournament featuring a $250K prize pool will also take place at DreamHack San Diego, and is open to all “BYOC ticket-holders.”

DreamHack Magic: The Gathering competitions wt the event will host competitive and casual formats for players including an open $10K :Phyrexia: All Will Be One” sealed tournament, an open $10K standard tournament, hourly drop-in tournaments, “Open play Commander,” competitions, and four- and eight-person events throughout each day of the show.

There will also be a $3K cosplay event, a Super Mario movie screening, and Dream Big, an joint initiative between DreamHack San Diego and the Autism Society San Diego to raise autism awareness and funds for the non-profit during Autism Acceptance Month (Attendees can use the promo code “DREAMBIG” when purchasing a DreamHack ticket for a 20% discount, with 50% donated directly to Autism Society San Diego). In addition, 10 bring your own controller (BYOC) tournaments will take place across eight titles including Overwatch 2, Valorant, Rocket League, and more, with nearly $40K up for grabs.

Finally, the San Diego fighting game community will have opportunities to compete in 11 titles. The first stop for Brawlhalla’s 2023 esports program will take place at the event, with $70K in prizing across singles and doubles circuits up for grabs. Fourteen tournaments under the “DreamHack Fighters” banner will take place at the show, offering competition in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Super Smash Bros. Melee, Guilty Gear Strive, Street Fighter V, TEKKEN 7, and more.
