Veteran editor and writer Sarah Schutz has been promoted to the role of head of games publishing at League of Legends and Valorant maker Riot Games. A seasoned copywriter, writer, and editor, Schutz joined Riot in 2012 as managing editor of its online publications where she trained and managed a team of writers, built out content strategy, and helped develop policy on Riot’s corporate and brand messaging across its various online publications and social media channels.
From that starting point (she spent a year as ME), Schutz climbed the Riot corporate ladder into multiple leading roles including communications manager, brand writing lead, senior brand manager, chief of staff (founder’s office), director of product, and most recently senior director of product management.
Speaking about this new role on social media, Schutz expressed her gratitude for being able to work with the Riot team over the last 10+ years in these multiple roles:
“For the last decade I’ve had the privilege of waking up each morning to face the most meaningful, challenging, unexpected, and mostly magical problems and opportunities for players with the smartest and most passionate humans I’ve ever know. I am stupidly excited for my new role leading Games Publishing, working with amazing Rioters across the company to shape what comes next. Pinch me.”
