Brent Koning, who spent more than six years at Electronic Arts facilitating its competitive gaming efforts, has announced his exit from the company. Koning most recently served as the vice president of esports where he oversaw EA’s portfolio of esports titles including Apex Legends, FIFA, and other titles from the company’s London offices.
Koning was promoted to the leading role in esports in May; prior to that he spent a year in Redwood, California, overseeing FIFA exports competition as VP of FIFA competitive gaming. Prior to that he served as group director & commissioner of FIFA for more than four years.
Prior to joining EA, served in leading roles related to gaming and esports at such companies as NCompass International, Microsoft’s U.S. Xbox operations, PR firm Roundhouse (who was the agency of record for Xbox and Zune at the time from 2010-2011), Oregon-based Opus Agency, Jack Nadel International, and Redbull.
Konig did not announce where he was going next but he teased on social media that he would make an announcement in December and that his new role would be in London.
