Automaker Honda announced Monday that it has partnered with Amazon-owned streaming platform Twitch to serve as the official automotive partner of Twitch Rivals.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Under the terms of the deal, Honda will support Twitch’s tournament series, and in turn, Twitch will promote the company’s new 2025 Civic hybrid sedan, starting with a content series—a multi-episode interactive segment called “Chat’s Civic Mods,” where the community can “customize new Civic hybrid in-stream,” ahead of TwitchCon 2024 in San Diego. The crowdsourced, custom-designed Civic hybrid sedan design will be unveiled at TwitchCon, Sept. 20-22, where it will be given away to a Twitch community member.
Honda branding will also appear on the Twitch Rivals channel during competitions, and on social media platforms.
Honda made its first foray into the world of streaming when it launched its gaming channel, Honda Head2Head in 2019, and has been a non-endemic sponsor and partner with North American esports organization Team Liquid, the 2019 NHL Gaming World Championship, League of Legends Championship Series (LCS) and LCS Scouting Grounds (2019), and launched the Hondaverse in Fortnight Creative (2023) featuring its 2024 Prologue and 2023 CR-V hybrid, Pilot TrailSport and HR-V SUVs.
Twitch Rivals’ next major event is on July 18, when it hosts the State Farm BR Showdown featuring Fortnite. The event will feature 40 participants divided into 20 teams of two players vying for a piece of a $20K USD total prize pool. Details on that event can be found on Twitch, but star competitors include HeadShotChick, Swearin, vanessuh, HappyHappyGal, and three unannounced players.
