Riot Games announced plans on Monday for a major overhaul to the global ecosystem for League of Legends Esports in 2025.
That overhaulโwhich a Riot rep. told The Esports Advocate in a media briefing on Thursdayโis somewhat informed and inspired by what it has learned from the Valorant esports ecosystemโincludes an all-new event at the beginning of the season, a consolidation of the top leaguesโfrom eight down to fiveโand many other major and minor changes.
Ultimately, Riotโs plan for 2025 will be to take the eight existing leaguesโLCS, CBLoL, LLA, LEC, VCS, PCS (which includes LCO and LJL), and LPLโand pare them down to five leagues, and implement a new tier-2 relegation promotion ecosystem in select regions.
