Guild Esports adds Apex Legends roster for Esports World Cup

UK-based esports organization Guild Esports announced that it has re-entered the competitive Apex Legends scene by signing a new roster as part of its ongoing plan to compete in as many titles as it can during the Esports World Cup in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, starting in July. Guild is one of 30 partnered teams in the Esports World Cup Club Support Program, which incentivizes organizations to sign new rosters to compete in multiple titles during the competition.

The Apex Legends roster—whose members reside in Australia and currently compete as Serenity—will play under the Guild banner in Riyadh and beyond. The new team features professional players Benjamin “Jesko” Spaseski, Tyson “Buegy” Crossman, Tom “Legacy” Canty, and team coach Winnie “tiltedwinnie” Long. The team has been signed on a one-year contract, according to an announcement. Prior to joining Guild, the team had already successfully qualified to take part in the Esports World Cup (EWC) and will represent the company at the event and fight for a share of the $2M USD total prize pool. It’s been some time since Guild competed in Apex Legends—its previous roster competed from October 2021 – June 2022.

The move by Guild is to take part in the Esports World Cup Club Championship, a cross-game competition at the EWC, where organizations earn points to be crowned the overall Champion and earn a large portion of a $20M team prize pool.

In addition to qualifying for Apex Legends, Guild has secured spots in ESL R1; this is important because being part of the club competition requires entry into at least two titles.
