Fnatic Promotes Nyan Heroes

UK-based esports organization Fnatic announced Friday that it has partnered with the developers of blockchain-based game, Nyan Heroes.

Financial terms of the deal, which was announced on Twitter/X, were not disclosed.

Nyan Heroes is described as an online “team-based hero shooter featuring cats piloting mechs,” and is built on the Solana Blockchain. The game is free-to-play, in the early-alpha phase of development, and available on the Epic Games Store. As is usually the case with these kinds of games, Nyan Heroes features NFT components.

While it does lean heavily into blockchain/NFTs, the developers claim that “the essence of Nyan Heroes is undeniably a top-notch multiplayer shooter,” or as they claim elsewhere in its official FAQ, “Nyan Heroes does NOT require an external wallet, however, external wallet connection is supported via Phantom Wallet.”

Fnatic joins a growing list of esports organizations promoting and/or working with third-party web3/blockchain-based games and developers including G2 Esports (who also partnered with developer 9 Lives Interactive recently), Team Liquid, XSET, Talon Esports, United Esports, and M80.

On a related note, FNATIC was recently named the top-earning esports team in the Valorant Champions Tour EMEA related to team-based capsule collection sales in March, according to an official post from Riot Games on X/Twitter. The organization came in at #1, followed by Gentle Mates, Karmine Corp, KOI, and Natus Vincere. Specific sales figures were not revealed, and representatives from Riot Europe declined to comment on specific numbers.
