Chinese conglomerate Tencent Holding’s gaming and esports brand Level Infinite announced Thursday that it has inked a three-year partnership with the Esports World Cup Foundation to drive the growth of Honor of Kings and PUBG Mobile competitive gaming in the region.
The announcement was made jointly by Saudi Esports Chairman HRH Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Sultan Al Saud, Tencent Games GM of Global Publishing Vincent Wang, World Esports Cup Foundation CEO Ralf Reichert.
Financial terms of this new deal were not disclosed.
Under the terms of the deal, 1,000 esports events will be hosted globally for PUBG Mobile and Honor of Kings. As part of this partnership, the new PUBG Mobile World Cup taking place at the Esports World Cup was revealed, featuring a $3M USD prize pool and eight days of competition. The new competition will serve as a replacement for the PUBG Mobile World Invitational (PMWI) as a summer event.
In addition, 12 teams will compete for a $3M prize pool at the just-announced Honor of Kings Invitational Midseason—also to be hosted at Esports World Cup, with the opportunity to secure spots in the Honor of Kings Invitational Championship later in 2024.
