International franchised smoothie brand Smoothie King has entered into its first gaming-related partnership with esports organization OpTic Gaming and its top creators, including retired Call of Duty pro player Seth “Scump” Abner. The company said in its announcement that this new collaboration “marks Smoothie King’s first partnership in the gaming space – tapping into a new market of gamers eager to be fueled for hours of watch parties, entertainment, and gaming.”

Financial terms of this partnership were not disclosed.

Under the terms of this deal, Smoothie King will serve as the presenting sponsor and meal sponsor of three Scump Watch Parties (focusing on Call of Duty League action). Smoothie King and OpTic will also work together to create custom video content, social media posts, and sponsorship of OpTic’s popular “Around the Bar” podcast.

The partnership officially began on Feb. 23, with Smoothie King presenting the very first Scump Watch Party.

Smoothie King is a franchised health drink chain founded in 1973 by Steve and Cindy Kuhnau. In 2012, the company was sold to longtime franchisee owner Wan Kim (he opened a franchise in South Korea in 2002) for an estimated $50M USD. As of February 2023, Smoothie King has more than 1,400 locations globally.

OpTic Gaming currently competes in Call of Duty League as OpTic Texas, in Halo as OpTic Halo, and in Apex Legends as OpTic Apex.

Smoothie King joins other OpTic sponsors and partners including SCUF Gaming, Razer, Jack Link’s, Mountain Dew, Wing Stop, CordaRoy’s, Cheez It, Fanduel, and Veriheal.
