India-based tournament organizer Skyesports announced Tuesday its plans to launch a city-based league revolving around Battlegrounds Mobile India (BMGI). This new league will feature 16 city-based teams in major cities within India, and will have its first in-person event in March.

The 16 city-based teams competing in the Skyesports League are the Ahmedabad Avengers, Bengaluru Crushers, Bhubaneswar Titans, Chennai Clutchers, Delhi Dragons, Guwahati Giants, Hyderabad Nawabs, Kochi Kings, Kolkata Tridents, Lucknow Pushers, Mumbai Aces, Pune Pros, Punjab Pinnacles, Rajasthan Strikers, Ranchi Warriors, and the Vizag Gladiators.

Each city will be represented by a different esports organization based “on past results, contribution to the ecosystem, and commitment to localized content for the esports event,” according to a release. These 16 teams and their respective players will be revealed at a later date.

The Skyesports League 2024 will take place in Mumbai in March 2024 with a multi-day, in-person event before a live audience. More information about the teams, prize pool, competition format, and other important event information will be announced later.
