India-based tournament organizer Skyesports announced Monday its 2024 roadmap for Counter-Strike 2 competitions domestically and internationally. The company will operate six major competitions (or global IPs, as it calls them) in India and other regions, with an overall prize pool of $1M USD.
These events will feature a mix of international and Indian teams, and will happen at LAN events in the country and internationally. The company said in a release that the positive response to the Skyesports Masters in-person final in Bangalore, India, helped drive this new and expanded roadmap.
2024 will begin with Skyesports Grand Slam March 14-18, with a $50K prize pool; followed by a new season of its franchised esports league, the Skyesports Masters, with a $350K prize pool in May 2024. The Skyesports Championship will also return in July 2024 with a $150K prize pool. All of these competitions will feature international organizations, with exact venues to be announced at a later date.
Following these tournaments, Skyesports will host the $150K Skyesports Souvenir in Colombo, Sri Lanka, featuring teams from India, Europe, and North America. In October 2024, Skyesports is set to introduce a new competition series called the Skyesports Global Tour. That tournament will take place in Bangkok, Thailand, with a $250K prize pool, with qualifiers taking place in India, Europe, North America, and Southeast Asia.
Finally, the Skyesports India vs Pakistan Series will take place in December 2024 in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. This competition will feature the best teams from each country competing for part of a $50K prize pool.
Beyond professional-level competitions, Skyesports said in a release that it will also be supporting grassroots-level collegiate and cafe events for Counter-Strike 2 in India with “monetary and infrastructural support.” Details on that aspect of its plans are to be announced.
