Esports organization M80 announced Friday that professional tennis player Daniil Medvedev will join its ownership group.  The amount of Medvedev’s financial commitment to M80 was not disclosed.

M80 said in a release that the No. 3 ranked professional tennis player, who is also an avid gamer (his game of choice is Rainbow Six: Siege), will advise the organization on esports endeavors (partnerships, growing the fan base, etc.), and share his experience in sports psychology with M80’s various teams.

“As an avid gamer and competitor, joining M80 gives me the opportunity to blend my experience,” said Medvedev in a release. “Just as in tennis, success in esports demands mental resilience and dedication. Marco and the team have created one of the world’s most exciting esports brands, and I’m looking forward to contributing to the growth of the company and giving fans more ways to engage with M80.”

During the his professional career, he has earned more than $34M USD in prize money.

This news follows M80’s announcement on Nov. 2 that it had partnered with recently launched video game community and rewards platform, Forge.

In June, M80 announced a $3M seed funding round led by ExpertDojo, VT Technology Ventures, and Practical Venture Capital.
