Brian Cooley announced Monday that he has joined North American scholastic esports platform PlayVS as its new chief marketing officer. Cooley joins his former colleague Jon Chapman from corporate education technology company EverFi, who took on the role of CEO at PlayVS in June, replacing Joe Gibson, who was serving as interim CEO following founder and CEO Delane Parnell stepping down at the beginning of May.
“Esports is well recognized as one of the fastest growing competitive platforms in the world and the positive impact that it has on participants is remarkable,” he wrote in a social media post announcing his new role. “I’m looking forward to sharing these transformational stories and further growing our impact on students, coaches, schools and communities. Game on!”
Cooley most recently served as the president of mobile mentoring platform Boulevard. Prior to that, he spent nearly nine years at EverFi in a variety of executive roles including chief business officer, global chief marketing officer, chief marketing officer, and president of the company’s sports and entertainment group.
In addition to his new role at PlayVS, Cooley currently serves as an entrepreneur in residence at Georgetown University, where he mentors undergrad and graduate students in sales and marketing.
