Chinese game publisher and distributor Perfect World announced Monday that the company would host the CS:GO Asian Championship (CAC) in Shanghai from Nov. 8-12, featuring a $500K USD total prize pool. Multiple Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO) teams including ENCE, G2 Esports, FaZe Clan, Mouz, and Team Liquid have been confirmed to attend the event. Perfect World has not confirmed the venue that is hosting the event, as of this writing.
In 2018 and 2019, Perfect World and esports tournament organizer PGL co-hosted CAC at Shanghai’s Yuanshen Gymnasium and Jing’An Sports Center, featuring $300K and $500K, respectively, in prize money. PGL is working with Perfect World on this and other events in the region.
In July, Counter-Strike outlet HLTV.org reported that Valve is targeting Shanghai for the second 2024 Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) Major in December 2024. The CAC 2023 could be recognized as a pre-test for Perfect World to host the 2024 CS2 Major.
