GGTech Entertainment has named Eduardo García Riaño as its new chief product officer. The former Amazon executive will be charged with leading the company’s global expansion into new territories.

Prior to joining the company, García Riaño spent more than eight years at Amazon in Madrid, where served in multiple roles including global head of sponsorships in esports and gaming and head of EU retail gaming and esports. He joined the company in 2015, leaving behind a storied career in the aerospace industry (he holds an MEng in Aerospace Engineering and an MRes in Economy and Management of Innovation).

García Riaño joins GGTech on the heels of the Spain-based company securing a $12.4M USD investment from Mexico City, Mexico-based growth equity investment firm Glisco Partners, and investment firm Heart Beat.

In July, Riot Games announced that GGTech had been named its collegiate esports partner over the next three years, serving as “a one-stop-shop” for College League of Legends, College Valorant, the college club program, and other programs such as the the CLoL Fall Warmup tournament. This news confirmed previous reporting from The Esports Advocate that Riot put out a request for proposals (RFP) earlier in the year seeking bids from companies interested in handling collegiate and scholastic esports in North America for League of Legends and Valorant
