Wei Yue announced Monday that he has joined Amazon Games as its new competition & esports director. It is unclear what games Yue will be working with related to esports, but it’s clear Amazon Games has some future plans in the works.
Yue previously worked at Ubisoft Montreal where he spent more than four years handing Rainbow Six Siege esports efforts in multiple roles including product director of esports—and most recently—esports director. He left the role in July.
Prior to that, worked nearly nine years at Activision Blizzard in multiple esports-related roles. Yue joined the company in 2010 as a customer service representative in Ireland, but in 2015 he was promoted to associate program manager of esports, working on Hearthstone operations in Europe and supporting on-site events for the game at BlizzCon.
He would later be promoted to associate program manager in esports, associate manager of esports Europe, and associate manager of esports EMEA.
