Liverpool F.C. Star Diogo Jota Partners With Galaxy Racer

Dubai-based esports organization Galaxy Racer announced Friday that it is launching a co-branded team with Premier League Liverpool F.C forward Diogo Jota (Diogo José Teixeira da Silva).

Under the terms of this new partnership, Jota’s existing team, Diogo Jota Esports, will be rebanded to Luna Galaxy and will expand its roster of players to compete in FIFA/EA Sports FC, Dota 2, and Rocket League. Jota will also make an undisclosed investment in Galaxy Racer, becoming a shareholder and advisor to the company. Jota’s existing team is best known for its success in playing FIFA on the world stage.

In a release Jota said: “I am delighted to join forces with Galaxy Racer and embark on this exciting venture. Esports has the potential to captivate millions worldwide, just like football, and I’ve been able to experience both first-hand. Through this partnership, I hope to bring Luna Galaxy to a whole new audience of gamers and sports fans alike.”

Luna Galaxy’s EA Sports FC team will consist of the following players: Jafonsogv, MarQzou, DFernandes, and Armando Vale (manager). Lineups for Rocket League and Dota are to be announced at a later date.

The new partnership with Jota comes at an interesting time for Dubai-based esports organization, as it finalizes a merger with Dubai-based Riva Technology and Entertainment (RTE), a subsidiary of MSM Corporation International Limited (MSM). The company announced this month that completion of this transaction would be pushed into August. When complete, Galaxy Racer will change its name to “Celestial.”
