TSM Selling LCS Slot, Plans Move to Another Region

TSM CEO and Founder Andy Dihn announced on social media Saturday that the Los Angeles-based organization will sell its League of Legends Championship Series (LCS) franchise slot and move its League of Legends team to another region to compete in League of Legends esports. Where the organization lands is anyone’s guess, but the possibilities are endless: LCK (Korea), LEC (Europe), or even LPL (China) wouldn’t be beyond the realm of possibility.

Of course, Dihn did not say one way or the other where the organization plans to put down roots next as it relates to League of Legends esports, but he did note in a video posted on social media that the organization’s inability to bring home a championship to North America over the years, and not financial concerns, was a determining factor in the decision.

A New York Times report claims that Dihn has been in talks to sell the slot for three weeks, and has narrowed down candidates in the “media and traditional sports worlds” to around 12 groups. The asking price for the slot is $20M USD, according to the NYT.

The Esports Advocate has reached out to TSM for more details and will update this story if more information becomes available.
