International esports organization Gen.G announced Tuesday that it will continue to work regional McDonald’s franchises represented by Davis Elen Advertising to facilitate the McDonald’s Gaming League in 2023.  This renewed partnership represents the third year for the league dedicated to lifting up McDonald’s employees/youth using competitive gaming.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

In a release, Gen.G said that the organization will continue to work with McDonald’s Southern California, Southern Plains (Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas) and DMV (Washington DC, Maryland, Virginia) for the league. Pacific Northwest enters its second year as part of the league.

Gen.G and Davis Elen Advertising—the local advertising agency for the aforementioned markets—have created what they describe as “a substantial expansion” with this year’s grand prize packages for employees. What the prize package consist of was not disclosed at the time of writing.

This year’s season officially began on May 12, with playoffs planned for June 24-25. Employees from each region voted on a game of their choice and will compete to qualify for the live playoff broadcast taking place on Twitch.tv/GenGesports. Local casters from each region will be calling the action.

Gen.G’s other initiatives related to students/youth includes cooperation with the University of Kentucky and the Gen.G Foundation, a 10-year, $1M USD commitment to help foster the development of future gaming and esports industry leaders through partnerships with universities in the United States that was announced in 2020. The organization also worked with McDonald’s and the Black Collegiate Gaming Association (BCGA) for the HBCU+ College netWORK Summit—announced earlier this year.
