EXCEL Esports Partners With HSBC UK

London-based esports organization EXCEL Esports announced Thursday that it has signed a partnership with HSBC UK, which will see the financial institution named the official financial services partner and financial health provider.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Under the terms of this partnership, EXCEL and HSBC UK will work together to help “support young people and entrepreneurs build financial skills to make the most of their money now and in the future”, according to a release. This includes working together on content aimed at financial education such as how to save money, or how to invest prudently. That content will include promotion of the HSBC UK Education Network (which launched in 2022), and according to HSBC UK, helped “more than 445,000 young people build financial skills through their partnerships and the HSBC UK Education Network.”

The partnership will also include branding across the organization’s streaming and social media channels, collaborative content creation, activations, and jersey placement on all of EXCEL’s competitive teams.

EXCEL currently competes in Valorant (Valorant Game Changers with an all-women team), League of Legends (League of Legends EMEA Championship, or LEC), and FIFA. HSBC UK joins other current EXCEL sponsors and partners including Just Eat, JD Sports, Sony INZONE, PC SPECIALIST, and EE.

It should be noted that over the weekend UK banking regulator Bank of England sold the UK branch of Silicon Valley Bank for £1 ($1.21 USD) in a move that many analysts say quelled potential contagion in the region’s banking system.

Editor’s note: We erroneously reported that EXCEL competes in VCT; it actually competes in Game Changers with an all-women team. We apologize for the error and have corrected the story.
