The Esports Advocate has learned that at least three people—as of this writing—have announced publicly that they have been laid off from esports organization Evil Geniuses (EG). According to the posts, yesterday was officially their last day.

Those affected so far include Director of Talent Management John Derment, LCS Team Admin Alan Ignacio,  and Sr. Manager, Operations Hal Sparks.

TEA has reached out to multiple sources at EG including CEO Nicole LaPointe Jameson, the company’s public relations department, and those affected by this latest round of layoffs and will update this story as more information becomes available.

Derment said on social media Tuesday: “Tough day for a lot of us at Evil Geniuses, myself included, as more roles were impacted by restructurings and layoffs. I’m disappointed that we didn’t get to finish what we set out to build, but I’m grateful for and proud of the great work the team did, particularly during these recent challenging weeks.”

EG is owned by private investment and technology firm PEAK6, who acquired the organization for an undisclosed amount in May of 2019.

The last round of layoffs at the Washington-based esports organization occurred at the end of December.

This is a developing story…
